The young ladies group is a support group that started at North Garden High School to empower the young ladies to become independent and to be able to make wise decisions in matters that impact their lives. This is a close group so no one was allowed to leave and come into the group. This helps the young ladies to develop a closer relationship and trust with each other. In the group the young ladies were encouraged to bring topics of interest that we could work together on and to get the group inputs on the best decision. I personally did this to encourage members’ respect, along with power sharing which helps to enhance their self-efficacy. The initial group session started with an icebreaker which relax the members and me. I did this because …show more content…
Many, if not all of them had positive things to identify with in a relationship like trust, honesty, passion, and commitment. However, the conversation went in the appositive direction when we started to explore the idea of commitment and jealousy. One group member was accused of having an affair with another group member’s boyfriend. As the facilitator, I think I had to step in and address the issue of trust because at the moment I think each member needed to know where trust started and that is with ourselves, and as stated earlier trust was one of the characteristic of having a healthy relationship. I had to keep calm composure and let each group member know that their opinion was equally important as I address the issue on trust. However, Dr. Heidi I was happy that you highlighted that I could have viewed this issue from a different angle as to why women protect men who hurt them and why women tend to tear each other apart when this happen. I will keep this in mind for the future. However, the group members were respectful to each other and as young ladies used terms to each other that they all understood like slider which I was not too comfortable with but the group members seems ok with the
