Zodiac Killer A serial killer is someone that has killed three or more people. Serial killers have terrorized people for decades all over the world. They get a sexual pleasure from torturing, and killing their victims. Almost all serial killers are very intelligent, but something went wrong in their life to make them the way they are. One of the most significant serial killers in the history of the United States is The Zodiac Killer.

One of the beliefs is that the Zodiac’s first murder was a young girl by the name of Cheri Jo Bates. This murder took place in Riverside, California. There were reported sightings of an old car, driven by a white male. Months later, a letter was sent to a newspaper, the victim’s father, and the media. The letters stated that they were written by the killer, and that there would be even more murders to come. Another theory of who he first murdered is that it was a young couple. Their names were David Faraday and Betty Lou Jensen, they were parked at a popular teenage hangout place when David was shot and killed inside of the car. Betty was able to escape the car but was still shot in her back 5 times until her death. (Greysmith)
Then again, on the fourth of July, 1969 The Zodiac struck again. Mike Mageau and Darlene Farrin. They were a young couple, and Darlene had been spotted talking with a man in a light car often, and her friends have said that she had been scared of the man (Greysmith). The newspapers complied with his demands and published the letters. A high school teacher from Salinas cracked his code. Even though The Zodiac Killer promised to have his real name in the letters, he did not. However, cracking the code helped them learn the sadistic personality of the Zodiac Killer. In his letters he wrote “I like killing people because it is so much fun” and he also included information about how he believed that the people that he killed would be his slaves in the afterlife. According to Biography.com, The Zodiac’s next victim was killed on September 27th, 1969. Yet again, the victims were a young couple by the names of Bryan Hartnell, and Cecilia Shepherd. They were on a picnic in a remote place together. Then, the killer came up to them in a disguise. The Zodiac Killer talked to them for a few minutes until he walked up and stabbed them both many times. Once again, the male survived and the female didn’t.
