1.1 Explain why induction is important for practitioners, individuals, and organisations. There are many reasons why induction is important, particularly working in the health and social care setting, which are beneficial to both the individual inducted and the people using the service. At induction the individual will be introduced to all the organisations policies and procedures which ensures they understand the expected ways of working and requirements of the role. Training and development is usually offered at Induction. This is a 6 day training programme including all mandatory training required to gain the skills and knowledge to perform the job role effectively. Working in health and social care involves supporting vulnerable individuals at risk of harm, abuse or neglect and it is essential that employees understand how to recognise signs and how to report them. The training provided within our organisation ensures employees know the different forms of neglect or abuse, including physical, financial, psychological, and sexual abuse, what signs they need to be aware of and how to report it. They are shown the safeguarding policies and procedures which include the information that they must report any concerns to the service manager and they are shown where they can access these again which give basic information on the types of abuse and the signs to look out for. The safeguarding training provided is ongoing and individuals are required to complete annual safeguarding training so they are made aware of any changes in legislation or policies in relation to safeguarding. They are also informed about collaborating with external agencies which in my organisation include social services and law
