As a teacher, I will make sure to establish a positive responsive and cooperative relationship with each child’s family. To do so, I will make sure to gain a full understanding of the types of families that we encounter such ass a nuclear family, interracial families, foster families and more. In order to maintain a positive relationship with each child’s family, I will send home welcome packets that explain the classroom policies, emergency place, and other helpful information. In order for a parent to get to know me, I will hold an orientation in which I will talk about the class curriculum, classroom routines, a tour of the class and brief description of what they should expect. I To add on, I will make sure parents feel comfortable by encouraging participation of parents. I will encourage parents to volunteer for field trips, attend gatherings, lead group activities assist with class projects and more. Will make sure to take full advantage of morning drop off and afternoon pick up, I will listen attentively as parents ask questions or make comments and I will exchange information about the child's experiences at the program. As a teacher, I am going to assure myself to set up a method for contacting parents whether it be by email, call, text or emails. Through this method, I will send photos of children s work and pictures of daily activities. Lastly, in order to make sure parents are aware of their child’s daily/ weekly routines, I will send out weekly newsletters.
