Changes in the 1920’s and 30’s did not lead to progress because of prohibition, sharecropping, work in the south, and violence. Most of the things that happened in the south didn’t benefit anyone or anything, it mostly just made things hard for people, especially black people.

During the 1920’s-30’s crime started to rise along with secret drinking, this was because of prohibition. Prohibition lasted for 13 years and started because alcohol was a leading cause of the destruction of families. Prohibition came to an end because people began to realize it wasn’t working and caused other negative activity around them.

Another change in the south that didn’t lead to progress was sharecropping. Sharecropping is like slavery but in a different form.
