An Art Therapist requires an education of either bachelor’s degree or master’s degree but it will be better to have an master’s because it’s quicker to be hire . One of the requirements to be an art therapist is to attend the “ art therapy degree program “ . They need a minimum of 60 semester credit hours of graduate level coursework that includes training in studio art , the creative process , psychological development , group therapy , art therapy assessment , psychodiagnostics , research methods , and multicultural diversity competence . Students must complete 100 hours of supervised practicum , and 600 hours of supervised art therapy clinical internship .
