"A Good Man is Hard to Find"
The story begins when the grandmother convinces her son Bailey and his wife to go on vacation to Tennessee and not Florida. She found an article and point out the Misfit toward Florida and told them that the children had already been there. On the day of the trip the grandmother hides her cat in a basket. She wears a dress with a flower hat so if there’s an accident they can see that she is a lady. Then the grandmother tells a story about an old suitor name Edgar Atkins Teagarden. He brought her watermelon every week and he put his initials E.A.T. One day he left a watermelon on the porch and a black child ate it because he thought it said eat. The grandmother asks her if she have heard about the Misfit, but the woman were worries that he will rob them. Then Red Sam says, that “A good man is hard to find.” The grandmother took a nap in the car and when she woke up she realizes that a plantation that she visited once is nearby. The grandmother lies because she said that the house had secret panel to make the house seem more interesting. The family drives deep into the woods. The grandmother remembers that the house was in Tennessee not Georgia. She was scare about her mistake but she didn’t tell anyone about her mistake. Then a car stop and three men got out the car with guns. One of them it was Misfit. The grandmother asks him if he had kill a lady but he said no. she told him that he comes from a nice family and he agrees. The Misfit tells the other two men, Hiram and Bobby Lee, to take Bailey and John Wesley into the woods. He said that he is not good but not the worst man. He said that he was sorry that he didn’t have a shirt on. He said that he had to bury their clothes after they escaped. He says they borrowed the clothes they are wearing from some people.
