The way one treats nature now will affect the nature of the future. The preservation of nature is crucial. Keeping nature clean will benefit plants and animals as well, which will benefit humans. A maintained natural environment will help the many different animals and water resources last longer and allow them to benefit others for generations to come. The short story “A Sound of Thunder” by Ray Bradbury portrays the theme of the preservation of nature. Hunting animals that are killed by nature, does not affect the timeline. People must realize that a tiny human action can destroy the preservation of the natural world. Humans are the main contributors to preserving or destroying nature. In “The Sound of Thunder,” Lesperance, a kind-hearted person, tries to interfere and calm down Travis. They have just finished their hunt for the Jurassic Era. Travis was frustrated with Eckles for walking off the metal path. Leaving the path was one of the first rules Travis gave Eckles. Lesperance tells Travis, “Take it easy, all he did was kick up some dirt” (Bradbury, pg. 144). The. Lesperance informed Travis that kicking up dirt was not a huge deal. All Eckles did was walk off the path onto the dirt. Many may take this part of the story as not representing the importance of preserving nature and may instead think that such a small choice is not essential and not a huge deal.
