Abraham Lincoln had three great qualities. One was his understanding of all men. When a man was brought in to be killed for his misconduct, Lincoln would instead try to understand why he did what he did. “Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power.” (A Leadership Thought to Ponder). Lincoln was not an egotistical man. When he had to speak to people or act on to something, he would ponder on how it would reflect on his profession, not on himself. He discoursed to groups as if using another’s mind not his. He didn’t want people to do or believe something he said just because it was him that said it.
