Hitler’s Rise to Power
Did you know that Hitler wanted to be an artist? He had told his parents that he was attending an art school called Vienna Academy. He had tried to get in to the school but failed miserably. Hitler’s dad wanted him to be a strait “A” student, so he forced his son to do well in school. Hitler did not like school because he did not like being told what to do. When Hitler would misbehave at school, his father would punish him. When his father passed away Hitler’s mom let him drop out of ninth grade at 16 teen years old. The plan failed, he was arrested and tried for treason he was soon put in jail for nine months.” states Adolf Hitler Dictator of Germany, chapter: Early life.” During Hitler’s time in jail he wrote a book called “My Struggle”. The book told his plans to transform German society into one based on race. With many people unemployed this gave Hitler an advantage, people started to agree with Hitler’s plans. Many people were ambivalent to the republic becoming more open about many extreme options. Hitler ran for president against 84 year old Paul Von Hindenburg. Hitler got second place in two rounds of the election, gaining 36 percent of votes in the final count in the election. Hindenburg unwillingly agreed to appoint Hitler’s chancellor in order to promote political balance. Hitler soon passed a law called the Enabling Act, this act gave his cabinet powers constitution from the deviations for four years. After he achieved full control over the branches, Hitler and his allies journeyed on a systematic suppression on the remaining political opposition. Close to the end of June, Hitler had taken down all other parties so his party would be the only legal party in Germany. Hitler ordered Germany to leave the League of Nations so he could be the only person who would have power. Many poor or depressed past servicemen and members of the Freikorps decided they were going to join the Nazis. Solders in the Nazis were told to attack the socialists and communists, also were to exploit violence for the impression of strength.
