In today's society, individuals among us are faced with adversity on a daily basis. Day after day we climb a new mountain, face a new difficulty or even submit ourselves to the unknown. In the Oxford dictionary, adversity is often defined as a difficult or unpleasant situation. As described, this challenge can be shown to be impactful in our daily lives. Adversity impacts one's life and choices oftentimes in a negative ways.

To start, the image shows a little boy sitting below steps, pouting before a baseball and broken vase. Clearly the boy’s side view shows us that he is troubled by his adversity, which is the broken pot. It portrays how adversity can lead to psychological negative impacts on our life and choices. Here we observe that his mistake impacted him, sending the individual to regret breaking the vase. Regret and sadness here can be understood as negative emotions causing psychological difficulty. The boy also seems to be saddened since his parents could later find out what he did, and punish him for his actions. We see that his misfortunes could affect his future choices and lead to negative results.

In the poem, the author communicates to the audience, that a man is fighting to rise from the water in order to escape from drowning. Here the man’s adversity is the water and has impacted his physical well being. In the lines, “Three times, ‘tis said, a sinking man, comes up to face the skies”, she proves that the man is approaching his death. His physical state endangered, the man starts to sink and this results in the character drowning. This proves that when adversity impacts our choices, it can result in a negative physical
