The word adversity as used in The Bible is gotten from the Greek word ‘tsarah’ which means straits, distress, trouble e.tc. It is from the same root word as ‘tsartsar’ which means to bind, to oppress or to besiege. These two words are used and translated for various experiences and situations recorded through Scriptures such as tribulations, persecutions, adversaries, foes e.tc and these situations were not and are never pleasant. Hence it is never a pleasant experience for anyone because it is a time of much despair and discouragement, a period which many would wish never arose.
