Civil rights are wide list laws and rules of privileges and rights given to the people by the government. The right to elect leaders, public equality to all citizens, freedom of expressions, speech, press and assembly are included in Civil Rights. These rights are protected by the law, to preserve peace and order within the nation. Any conduct against Civil rights is an act of discrimination, therefore no one can deny anyone from their rights. During the peak of civil rights movement in 1960’s, people from the south led by Martin Luther King, Jr and other civil rights leaders march from Selma, Alabama to Montgomery, Alabama to fight for their right to vote. A large number of African-American citizens from the south cannot vote even after the racial segregation of 1964. After the march, the federal government now has the ability to administered the election in southern states if there is a sign of racial suppression. The civil rights movement of 1965 was pivotal to the legislation, practicing equality while providing a formal assurance regarding to voting rights.
African-American can now vote just like any other citizens. Not only that, they can now elect African-American leaders. Literacy exams, grandfather clause, and poll taxes are also removed. ///////////////
Civil rights movements such as “Brown v. Board” and “Little rock nine” and the civil rights movement of 1965 are few of many act of civil disobedience in education and voting that shaped the history of the United States. These movements are aimed to create a better place for African-American citizens and their kids to live on. Today, African-American has full access to education, and they can elect role models as it should be.
