To start off with, students are being distracted by cell phone usage. Students need to be focused on the lesson and not on a funny meme their friends are sharing around. During class many will be texting parents, and friends, or networking, when their attentions should be with the teacher. Yes, they can be used as a good learning tool, but honestly, how many teens do actually use it as a learning tool? Some might be offended on what was said or seen. Also using pictures to send threats against others. "Experts have stated that cell phones could be used to detonate a bomb if it is near or on the school's campus." Without phones it will be easier to track down who is sending out the threats against the school or another student.
Another, big reason why cell phones shouldn't be allowed is, cheating. Many apps have now come out that helps students "do" their homework. In reality students are using these apps to get the right answers with them not actually having to do any thinking. If they just copy of the site, what will they really be learning? Test scores will decrease. They are also getting answers from another student taking pictures of the test and distributing them throughout their friends. That might cause for the test scores to increase, but they aren't learning anything by doing
