What are issues to consider when meeting the International Building Code for a facility?
There are many issues to consider when meeting The International Building Code for a facility in. One of the issues to think through is amendments to codes that are already set into place. Where there is a conflict between a general requirement and a specific requirement, the specific requirement shall be applicable. Where, in any specific case, different sections of this code specify different materials, methods of construction or other requirements, the most restrictive shall govern (IBC, n.d.). Changes to building codes can be found in the 2012 International Building Code. The International Building Code covers all rules and regulations related to a new facility. Other issues to consider are
Fire Safety
Disabled access or structural integrity
Historic significance
What measurements may be done in advance of the new plan or renovation? There are many things that can be done in advance of renovating a new health care facility like planning. There must be a lot of planning put into renovating or building a new healthcare facility in most cases the planning process will take 6 months or more. Major planning phases are things that should be done in advance like (1) Analyze the current market conditions and assess both external opportunities and threats as well as internal strength and weaknesses (2) Help establish clear goals, objectives, and strategies (3) Increased employee loyalty – through the shared commitment working towards common goals (Walrath & Augenbroe, May 2007).
