I’m going to explain to you how Jonathan Edwards convinced his congregation to repent. Jonathan Edwards is very persuasive through his imagery in his sermon. He uses saying like “crush a worm that we see crawling on the earth.” He also explains that God is angry and with many and the people should fear the flames of hell. “God does not let loose of the hands and cut them off” is another example of God being angry. Jonathan Edwards persuades the congregations by making them scared or have fear of going to hell. He makes hell seem like the scariest place to ever go. Jonathan Edwards persuades his congregation by using simile. He compares a lot of things using like or as.
