The process of where a product starts, to it being on the shelf is so lengthy that it often discredits the claim of some companies that they do not test on animals. All the materials that produce the product could contain substances that have had to undergo testing to make sure they are safe. New products are required by law to be tested for safety, but it is not required to have the products be tested on by animals. Heather Dunnuck, a student at Lone Star College states that “Animals and people are alike in many ways; they both feel, think, behave, and experience pain. Thus, animals should be treated with the same respect as humans.” Dunnuck continues, “Animals do not willingly sacrifice themselves for the advancement of human welfare and new technology.
