Not only in Canada but in almost all of the western countries can we see the convention of giving tips to waiters and waitresses. Those people who offer services maintain that they can take the money from the customers as a matter of course. So do some citizens think so. However, this custom is, with no doubt, totally an inappropriate behavior which should definitely be banned since waiters do not really need tips and those tips, in some certain circumstances, can cause some serious problems.
First, those who always give tips to waiters should notice a fact that people who offer services do not really need such money. Waiters and Waitresses have already the money that they deserve in their wages per month. Also, if they have offered you an awful service, you, with no doubt, need not to pay any extra fees to them. If they have done quite a good job, you do not need either because they will be rewarded by their managers.
Second, some serious problem may arise out of such tips. For example, since more and more waiters get money from customers, they will definitely be an inappropriate competition between them on how much they got from consumers. Therefore, they will only serve for tips, not for customers if they continuously receive tips. What is worse, they may unfairly serve customers and only serve customers who give a large amount of money well. As for those who do not pay tips that much, they are even not willing to give a glimpse to see their faces
