The government can watch our every move, but we can’t read someone else’s mail. It is against the law to read someone else’s mail, but not for law enforcement cameras to record our every move. In New York City 6,000 public cameras surround the city of 8.406 million people, as of 2013 8.4 million had no idea they are being recorded or why. Of 1000 people in New York the crime rate is only 3.94% of a year, meaning that about 960 people in New York City have not committed a crime or are simply innocent people (Scout). So what is the point of watching someone day and night that has not committed a hard crime?
Majority of jobs have video cameras placed inside their store's and work area, but not on their body following their every move. A job shouldn’t require a person to have every single move monitored on their daily routine. When officers go into work they must apply a small video camera to their uniform which records throughout the day. This is an absolute invasion of privacy to the officer, for his job to monitor the officers every move.
We put our lives at the hands of officers that only train for 6 months, then become an officer, although we also put our lives in the hands of surgeons. Surgeons are required to complete at least 4 years of undergraduate school, 4 years of medical school, and, depending on their specialty, 3 to 8 years of internship and residency programs. Law officials need to take into considerate the power they hold
