These groups recruit others through hosting events and social media. Social media makes it easy to find new members, as their accounts are easily found and they freely post about their views. This makes it easier for people to find them and join in with the hate, yet nothing is done to stop them. People may say nothing can be done without restricting ‘Freedom of speech’. People should be allowed to have freedom of speech, but that does not include the things these groups say and put out there. Racism is illegal, so why is nothing being done to stop these people? This may be because the flag comes from the civil war, when southern countries rebelled against Abraham Lincoln’s anti-slavery law. Also, the KKK has adopted this flag and now uses it which represents their hate. They hold community meet ups to encourage new members and intimidate coloured people.
