Arming Teachers: Yes or No?

With school shootings on the rise, is arming teachers really a good idea? We believe that arming teachers would not be the preferable choice to protecting students from school shootings. In fact, the act of arming teachers may be even more detrimental than not arming teachers because there would be an increase in safety problems, a hierarchy which would be built off of fear, and the expense as well as training. As we know, school shootings in the U.S. continue to rise, as well as laws trying to protect students and having more gun control across the country. With the thought of arming teachers, this can decrease safety instead of increase safety. This is proven because of how many teachers have brought a gun to school and allowed the students to get a hold of the weapon. At Highland …show more content…

If you are a possible intruder, you don't know if the person you encounter is an authorized faculty or staff member. that maybe will change their mind about coming." So due to the shooting, they want to ensure a safer place for students and teachers who DO want to carry guns.
