Athlete’s foot is a fungal infectious disease similar to Ringworm, this disease is scientifically recognised as Tinea Pedis. This infection starts through the feet and can occur in most normal people simply due to lack of care of the skin and feet. Since this disease is common in most athletes, this disease is known to many people as Athlete’s Foot. We refer to athletes because the shoes they wear are unventilated, musty, mucid, damp and decaying. These are the best conditions for this fungus to grow in.
Mucid means musty, moldy and slimy just like the other words I used to describe the conditions this grows in. And you athletes must be going to gyms, locker rooms and public changing rooms right? Never thinking of the microbes and germs that might be living there, hey?
Well yes... …show more content…
So you are saying I can’t go to the gym rooms, swimming pools or public showers?
Yes that is what I am inferring. This fungus grows in moist, humid conditions similar to what sweat feels like. You must be going through rough training which forces you to sweat too. (The patient nods agreeing to the doc.) And due to keeping your feet exposed to damp, sweaty, closed shoes and dark cave like environments you are giving the fungi time to infect your feet and time to multiply and reproduce itself to take control over your feet.
Here are a few simple tips that you can follow to generally keep your skin healthy and protected from these infections. Take a look at them as I write your prescription.
