Every day around the world there are children dying. Every 4 seconds a child dies which is equal to 14 children dying every minute. On average 29,000 children from under the age of 5 to 21 die each minute every day from preventable causes. Some of those preventable causes are malaria, diarrhoea, neonatal infection, pneumonia, preterm delivery, or lack of oxygen at birth. Everyday about 21,000 children will die around the world. While going to medical school to become a pediatrician takes a while it is worth it to me because I can make a change I can be one of the millions of pediatricians helping to lower the number of children that die everyday. As for me i have completed 1 year of biology and 1 year of math.next year i will be a sophomore in high school and i am going to take chemistry,math, and Rop classes. Although, the Rop class is not specifically for the medical field I am going into it does pertain to medical assistance. I am also going to volunteer at Loma Linda Children's hospital during the summer to gain experience. After high school I plan on going to medical school, possibly Loma Linda University to get my medical degree. They are involved in diagnosing and treating injuries, infections, and diseases for young patients as well as counseling them through difficult times and situations such as puberty and family problems. On a daily basis pediatricians conduct physical exams and tests to diagnose diseases and injuries, recommend treatment, help patients through difficult times ,communicate with social workers, care workers and family members. Pediatricians usually work in hospitals, health clinics, government agencies, or they are self- employed. Pediatricians work 9-12 hours a day and 45-60 hours a week. When they start working they are paid an entry wage of $67.54 an hour and $140,490 annually. Their median wage is $89.16 hourly and $185,440 annually. At the end of their career they earn $88,840- $152,240 and over. Although they earn a lot of money it takes time, effort and sacrifice. Many doctors in general sacrifice the amount of time they spend with their families, but it is worth it to them because they are helping save lives and they get benefits through their employer like health insurance, retirement, 401(k) plans, and paid vacation
