In this essay I look at the actions of each group (men, women and children) of individual and perceiving which group has remarkable information to give throughout my time at the mosque. By applying Michel Foucault theory of knowledge, power and discourse and using Louis Althusser’s theory of state apparatus, I look at the pattern of speaker in the mosque and at the actions of each group and what that action entails to conclude who has power in the mosque and how is this power used.

From my observation men are placed in front of the women but only elderly men gets to sit on the chairs inside the worship area. Also, two men leads the service and one man seats in front of everyone. On the other hand, women are placed in the back behind the men and are separated by a wall. Women have to go through a different path than the men to reach the worship area of the mosque. However, Regardless of their sex children are allowed in both men’s and women’s section, but they don’t have to do anything in particular. Looking at the actions of everyone in the mosque it is presume that most people who belongs to the religion knows their role and knows what they are supposed to do. Therefore, this is clear evidence that the individuals think they have the free will to make their own choice but they have been told what to do and when to do it by either their parents or someone who has a high role inside of the mosque. Furthermore, by using interpellation the leader of the mosque has the most power as a result of him telling everyone else when and how to do the ritual at the end of the service. However, he is also under the power of the religion itself as long as there is a set of rules that is being passed down from generations to him so he thinks he is leading everyone by his choice but he is actually following what his ancestor told him he should
