Who were the Geats? The Geats were considered as Beowulf's gang. They are known as the biggest, bravest men. Their tribe resides in the south of Sweden. The Geats went to foreign land to fight and save Denmark from the terrible monster, Grendel. They appeared to have been conquered and disappeared into history invading the “Danes”.
Who were the Danes? The Danes were residents of Denmark led by Hrothgar. Hrothgar is a father figure to Beowulf and a model for the kind of king that Beowulf becomes. Beowulf travels to Denmark to fight Grendel and continue his epic quest. Along with him, were his fourteen brave warriors. Later they were connected to the people who were eventually subjugated by the Swedes in territory inland of Sweden.
