The people that participated in the study were randomly assigned. The study consisted of “10 55 minute five of which were expected to be completed by the four-month follow-up”. The study found that out of the 113 people who did online therapy, 38 percent recovered from depression after four months, compared with 24 percent of people in the control group (Landau, 2009). The author believes the internet has an enormous amount of potential especially for those who are not able to meet face to face. The author reflects that not everyone is comfortable with talking to someone about their personal problems whether it is physical or mental. The author includes some different forms of online therapy consisting of programs that are not operated by a therapist controlling them. Tele therapy is said to be more cost efficient but there still needs to be more research done on the effectiveness of it compared to face to face therapy. The author points out that tele therapy will not completely eliminate face to face therapy, at least not anytime in the near future.
