Meghan Campbell Ferris S.S. On January 1st, 1752, the world was graced with the birth of Betsy Ross. Growing up she grew up with the Quaker religion. She then attended a traditional Quaker school in Pennsylvania at the age of 3. Ross also learned how to make and fix items such as rugs, curtains, bedcovers, etc. During the revolutionary war it is said that Ross had a major impact. In the summer of 1776 (or even 1777) Ross received a visit from General George Washington. During this visit, Washington told her about the flag that was needed for the new nation. He then told Ross about the layout, saying that both Washington and Congress had come up with the basic layout. However, it is said that Betsy solidified the design by stating that five stars would be cut from the cloth in a single snip. In summary, Betsy Ross is the one who sewed America’s first flag. This happened shortly after it was revealed that she had sewn the first American flag. She became one of the best-known patriotic figures without even being a president, general, or statesman. Additionally, she represents how many patriots were in 1776. Ross, chose to be a patriot because she had her own feud with the British. After putting two husbands and her talent on the line of war, Ross was hailed as a heroine for her contributions during wartime and her major achievement of making the nation's first flag.

To this day, Betsy Ross is known as one of the most significant patriots and figures during the Revolutionary War. At this time, Ross is not with us, she passed away on January 30th 1836. Ross died peacefully in her sleep. In summary, Betsy Ross is the mother of America’s first flag and will always be a patriotic
