Brain Dump #2
First of all I thought that the assignment was way long, but then I started reading it and I actually got interested in the article. First of all I don’t like technology, it honestly scares me. The new and big shiny phones are just scary to me and overwhelm me. There so much that you can do with it and it honestly terrifies me. I feel like media will be the end of human kind. People argue that it moves us forward and that we are advancing but I feel like it only sets us back we become lazier. Technology is cool and all but we take advantage of it and I feel like it is only hurting us. It is amazing how far we have come I agree but it is just too much. The other day I wanted to trade in my old simple phone not because I wanted to but because I needed to, my phone had just shut off since I had had it for such a long time. I asked which was the simplest phone and it was just so so so complicated and confusing! The new phone that I now have can control my tv and even unlock cars! It’s a phone for crying out loud! I spent hours trying to figure it out and seeing all the things it could do. Before I knew it I was sucked in for hours!
Now to relate this to the reading, I feel a bit violated in the way that the advertisers of the spiderman movie feel that young teens are for a lack of better words, dumb. They feel like since we have no “real” responsibilities that we are vulnerable to their advertising and unfortunately we are. I felt a little irritated on how they analyze us and study patterns in order for us to consume their products. But technology doesn’t have to be all bad for
