Bullying is something that almost everyone falls victim to at a certain point in their lives, usually around early childhood and adolescence. It is a serious issue that causes serious psychological and emotional distress in individuals, which can undoubtedly lead to suicide. Bullying is characterized as a persistent negative behavior that is abusing or intimidating to an individual. It makes its victim feel helpless, humiliated, and threatened, and causes them to suffer from undue stress. To truly understand bullying, we must look at both those that are bullied and those that bully. The sad truth is that people tend to bully others in a feeble attempt to conceal their own self-consciousness, insecurities, weaknesses, and doubts. Bullies tend to be jealous of those they bully and they are likely to have feelings of inadequacy. Usually, those that bully others have even been bullied themselves; nevertheless, they continue to bully others, despite knowing the pain and suffering it causes, because they want to feel in control over something or someone. Many individuals commit suicide because they cannot bear to continue being bullied. Bullying causes significant emotional pain for the victim, and they begin to feel that they are indeed worthless and that if they die, all of the pain will go away.
