Carl Robbins Case Analysis
Carl Robbins could have saved himself and his company from disaster by practicing one simple task: planning. Carl was a campus recruiter and was new to the job. He hired 15 new employees and he failed to have all the necessary planning in place. He ran into conflict with new hire paperwork and third party drug screens. He also had challenges with securing a room to train the new hires. According to researchers at the University of Pennsylvania, they concluded everyone puts things off once in a while, but habitual procrastinators are setting themselves up for failure. Microsoft Outlook has calendar and scheduling tools to help companies communicate with one another without a great deal of effort. Psychologytoday.com defines time management as the ability to plan and control how you spend the hours in your day to effectively accomplish your goals. Some of the other challenges that Carl encountered, he could have outsourced to third parties in order to ensure the job would be done correctly. A master file could be generated with the help of the entire department so that all new hires are moved efficiently from offer of employment to the first day of work. The items to be included in the file should be a set of operating instructions for all human capital employees to follow without fail. The check list will have the proper correspondence to send to the candidate, preferably with a schedule of deliverables for the candidate. Having the schedule will cut down on
