Charly was mentally disabled in this story. This movie was made to show the listeners that even if you're mentally disabled you can still become intelligent no matter what. In the movie Charly had some bullies. They knew he was mentally disabled so that’s why they picked on him. The people he worked with made him do stuff that he shouldn't have done.
