The Organization
Twenty-five years ago, two public servants, Roy Miller and Linda Alexionok saw the lack of investment in children by both the state and national government. Together, with a vision of improving the well-being of children in Florida, the pair created The Children’s Campaign. The Children’s Campaign is a non-profit 501(c) (3) charity that capitalizes on a nonpartisan status and the legislative system to influence public policy that impacts Florida’s children. The organization acts as a whistle blower while continuing to work side by side with public leaders to create positive public policy and enact legislation for the health, safety, education, and well-being of children.

The Children’s Campaign views education and the access to quality education as the most important foundation of a child’s life. The organization advocates for higher quality education from Pre- K to College. They advocate for less expensive early childcare, better curriculum in Pre- K classrooms, increased state spending in public schools and decreased tuition prices for public colleges. The Children’s Campaign also advocates for local, state, and national awareness of child well-being. Advocating for child well-being means advocating for programs that improve the daily life of a child. They often speak with Florida politicians and local leaders about increasing access to healthcare, quality out of home care, child welfare reforms, and increasing services for disabled children. One of the more established projects of the organization is advocating for juvenile justice. The organization advocates for services of justice-involved girls, alternatives to arrest, and decreasing children tried as adults in the state of Florida. Organizational efforts showed for the support of juvenile justices when the Children’s Campaign helped close juvenile boots camps in
