Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted infection in teens, women, and men. There are more than 200,000 cases per year that is spread through sexual contact. Chlamydia only lasts for a few days or may last two weeks but can last longer if not treated. It must be diagnosed by a "medical professional" or "lab tests" and "imaging". Chlamydia is also known as the "silent STD" cause it often has no symptoms and the person can pass it without knowing they have it.

Briefly, explain the disease; is it caused by a bacteria or virus?

Chlamydia is a bacterial infection. This infection comes from the bacteria called Chlamydia Trachomatis. Chlamydia incubates inside moisture for a few days or weeks and causes women to have a discharge and painful urination in men it causes a burning sensation and pain and swelling in the testes.

The symptoms can be silent but will cause vaginal discharge and burning sensation in women when urinating in men discharge from the penis, burning sensation when urinating and swelling in one or both testes. If a person has Chlamydia already the infection could go from the vagina to the rectum the symptoms from that would be "rectal pain", "discharge" and bleeding.

Pregnant can get it from their partner and pass it on to their babies in childbirth. Chlamydia is a bacterial infection with no age restriction. It is passed from one infected person to another.
