Background
Evaluation of Policy and Legislation on Human Services.
In human services, the Civil Service Commission servants work under the guidelines documented as a policy to direct them on how they should carry out their operations. Taking the American Civil Service commission into consideration, it hired employees in the government sector and was guided by the Pendleton Civil Service Reform Act of 1883. It is because of the nepotism in hiring of government employees instead of basing the selection on merit that the act was formulated. Redesigning the Legislation to address issues of beneficiaries
Addressing the aspect of diversity in the field of policy making and en-action is quite important. Diversity has been confirmed to improve decisions when designing policies. In this regard, the issue could be addressed by having the views of the common people and taking into consideration their opinions. According to Malcolm Gladwell in his Article, ‘Big Think’s Edge’ he asserts that when diversity is included in an organization, great things happen as proper and improved decisions are made.
The most important changes to be made on this policy framework would be simply to reduce most of the powers vested on the government branches such as the Secretaries, the Congress among others. This is to reduce the high chances of calling for amendments by the government officials which often affect the common citizens. This is a proposal that could be given one of the highest public acceptances ever received in the United States of America regarding the rights of employees.
