That is kind of how Clara’s life when she was young went. After her childhood, Clara Barton had quite a good education as a young adult. Her brothers David and Stephen helped her with a little bit of her education, they made her play games to help her stay active. When she was not on the farm doing chores or with her siblings, she was at school. Clara was a very smart child. She very often did well in school. Clara was able to get an education because she was not a slave and her family could mostly afford her to go to school. She was lucky because slaves did not get to go to school or college. As Clara got older, she was a teacher at a very young age. She started teaching at the age of 16. Today you would most likely be in high school still, but not Clara. At this point, early in her age, she just worked in the summertime. Clara did not even have training in being a teacher. She was very smart and very good at her job.
