There was a variety of plants and animals that were exchanged such as livestock, cows, pigs, turkeys, fruits, vegetables, tobacco, sugar cane, potatoes, tomatoes, and peaches (Beck). Many of the crops that were traded were advantageous to world zones, especially to European society. New World crops were advantageous to Europeans because many of the crops were easier to plant and grow, making it easier to last long enough, and some crops were higher in calories, causing it to feed more people. Potatoes were essential to European society because they were easier to carry around, fulfilling, and could be left in the ground until they were ready to be eaten by Europeans. The Old World also had a huge impact on the Americans, the exchange of animals led the Americans to have more packed animals and food. Before packed animals like horses were exchanged, the Americans would use Llama to travel long distances or walk on foot, Llamas were not useful because they could only carry up to a hundred pounds and couldn’t travel far. Horses being introduced allowed them to load and carry more and heavier items and travel longer
