Looking at the thoughts of Hobbes and Locke we see a few similarities, but they did not really think much alike. In finding differences they seem far more common than similar ideas. By comparing and contrasting it easily be seen how they add up.
The first similarity are their ideas about the natural state of humans. Both Hobbes and Locke believed that humans live in a state of war without government. They agreed that government is a necessity for a better society. They believed that in order to form a government people enter in a social contract.
