Most gang activity is concentrated in major urban areas. According to Maryland Law, a criminal gang is a group of three or more persons that form to engage in criminal activities.
There are many reasons why gangs are formed. Gang involvement often leads to problems in school, stress in relationships or trouble with the law. There are three main reasons why people are interested in being involved in a gang. 1st reason is:
POWER: A lot of people who are in gangs feel that they are untouchable, which meaning somebody would always have their back and would be loyal to them.
2nd reason is PRESTIGE: which means being respected by rank according to status in the gang, feeling valuable and important.
The Last reason is PEER PRESSURE: people are often bullied by a gang; or they enroll because they feel protected.
I hope this information about gang violence has raised awareness about how dangerous gangs has become over the years.
