The artist I aspired to was JK5.The name of his art piece that I used ideas from was Mexico. This piece was created in 2011.the formal element used in his art piece was the contrasting colours. This is because his background was dull (black) however, he enlightened it up by drawing colourful colours such as light green , yellow etc. this made the images stand out .the main subject in his art piece is an array of patterns but in different colours(bright colours) which contrast to the background. In the chosen art piece, the patterns come in all shapes and sizes. Some patterns are similar but there are some patterns completely different aswell. I would say this image is abstract as these patterns you wont see in everyday life but in the artist’s case he wants to create a external reality. I would describe the colour scheme of this art piece as contrasting as the background is dull whereas the patterns on the interior are vibrant and colourful. The image makes me feel relaxed as the patterns seem to have a soft medium feel to it. I feel the focal point of the image is the bright colours. I know this as when I first looked at the image my eyes were locked in the sight of the contrasting colours. This may be because the colours stand out. The next thing I noticed was the patterns. As I stated, the first thing I noticed was the colour of the patterns and then I looked in greater detail at the patterns. I think the artist used acrylic paint as the texture of the art piece seems glossy which the outcome is usually when acrylic paint is used. The technique used was that the artist painted the patterns on a black canvas. The artist may have of been influenced by his identity. This is because the image starts of dull (black background) but we are then enlightened by various patterns in bright colours. This could symbolise that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. As it starts of negative but ends positively. This
