Crohn’s Disease condition was named after an American gastroenterologist, Dr.Burrill Bernard Crohn, in 1932.(Campos).Much of Dr.Burrill Bernard Crohn’s dedication to treat inflammatory bowel diseases also came from the close friendship with Dr. Jesse Shapiro who worked at the Mount Sinai Hospital, that was also diagnosed with the disease in himself (Campos). Crohn’s disease are inflammatory bowel diseases that cause chronic inflammation and damage in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. The crohn’s disease treatments just depend on where the inflammation is at, what kind of complications you have and the patient's response to previous treatment for recurring symptoms. The treatment can involve some medication, surgery , nutritional supplements, or monthly hospital visits to get infusion therapy done which is similar to what some cancer patients have to get done(Nordqvist). There may not be a cure for this disease but having these treatments done can help the patients not experience there symptoms so often. It may also help giving you a big chance on not getting colon cancer in the future. Some patients having crohn's disease have a chance of getting colon cancer(Nordqvist).
