“The challenge for today’s teachers is to include elements of curricula that will optimize learning for students while maintaining their cultural identity” a fear that many minority individuals face is the deterioration of their culture through biased education or no education about their identities. Through research and other developments, it has become clear that diverse students can only reach their full possibilities by being taught in ways that “promote the acquisition of increasingly complex knowledge and skills in a social climate that fosters collaboration and positive interactions among participants. Such classrooms are inclusive in their emphasis on high standards and outcomes for all students, including culturally and linguistically diverse learners.” When teaching these kinds of students, instructors should be using effective methods and …show more content…

Yes, I enjoyed the article and I personally think that culturally diverse classrooms and education, inspires students to consider their own cultural identity, while at the same time improving their performances in educational settings. What is your take away as a teacher? What will you consider doing now that you read this? As a teacher, I would introduce this kind of learning into my classroom, especially if there was a large minority presence. It would benefit the students by teaching them about different cultures, or even their own cultures. It would benefit me, as the teacher, because there is an increase in the desire to learn, when the topics are interesting to the pupils, and it would also initiate a more accepting school, if everyone could understand different kinds of cultures. Any critique? Challenges? Problems? Challenges will obviously arise with any new introduction of materials and ways of
