Sensitivity is critical when communicating with adults with communication difficulties. It is vital that we change and adapt our own style to the circumstances we encounter. Simplifying if necessary or reacting positively to the disability e.g deafness by speaking slowly to help them to lip read or possibly get support from elsewhere to sign.
There are many forms of disability that we may encounter language.,autism,Asperger and stuttering to highlight a few. It is vital that a disability of any kind does not lead to misunderstanding when communicating and therefore it is important to be as patient, considerate and understanding as possible.

The main points of legislation and procedures covering confidentiality,data protection and the disclosure of information are detailed in Every Child Matters which evolved from the Children’s Act 2004 detailed below.
The Children’s Act 2004 - this was in addition to and not to replace the Act of 1989. It sets a provision around what services local authorities and other departments such as schools,social services and police provide to children and ensures that they work in collaboration to improve the well being of local children. Introducing and providing a database of information that can be shared between to ensure protection and support to vulnerable children who are considered at risk. It defines how government ,organisations and businesses deal with personal information. In summary the Act states that personal information is used lawfully and kept for the minimum amount of time
