In her Essay written in 1993, Deborah Tannen’s describes how women were marked by many aspects in society. While attending a work conference with three more women and 8 men, she could not prevent herself from scrutinizing each of the ladies’ appearance; instead of focusing on the discussion itself, she illustrated in details their hairstyle, the way they dressed , the make-up they wore, and even the shoes they put on.
