Declaration of Independence gave the thirteen different colonies power to be their own states. The declaration of independence was written by Thomas Jefferson along with Benjamin Franklin of Pennsylvania, John Adams of Massachusetts, Roger Sherman of Connecticut and Robert Livingston from New York and adopted on July 4, 1766. It was written in order to explain why the colonies need independence. It was passed after a lot of revisions and corrections by the different authors. It holds three main things, complains against the King, includes why the colonies wants to get rid of British power and also the plan to be a nation. The declaration was made because King George didn't react to the complaints which were made by the colonies since many laws were passed against the colonies limiting their rights. One of them include the only trade the colonies can do is between the British, they can't do it with anyone else. Also they were tired of getting treated badly by those rules. The taxation was started after the war with the French and Indian war. Britain was in debt after the war the king said that they have the right to tax the colonies. To gain back the money they begin taxing the colonies in the form of a stamp for any piece of paper that was bought or used by them.
