It was a nice and sunny day. I don’t remember what day, but it sometime in mid-September. It was a home game, and our team was getting ready to walk down to the field. I had played field hockey ever since fourth grade and was a field player. Then the summer before seventh grade, I went to a field hockey camp at a nearby college and worked on goal keeping. At that camp, I put on the goalie pads for the first time ever, and everything I learned was brand new. I would say I was a fast learner, and that gave me a great deal of confidence going into the game, but I was still nervous. As you can see, that game wasn’t my first school game, it was my first school game, and my first game as a goalie.
Having courage can be as simple as saying hello to a stranger, or as complex as speaking in front of millions of people. For me, being courageous was playing in my first field hockey game as a goalie. It may not seem like much to some people, but to me, it was a huge deal. The game was new, filled with pressure, and my first time as a goalie. I am glad I was courageous enough to play in that game, because now, I have no problem going out there, and having fun as a
