Type 1 diabetes is a disease where a person loses their insulin cells. People with Type 2 diabetes aren't able to use their insulin very well. You can't reduce your risk of Type 1 diabetes but you can reduce your risk of Type 2 diabetes by eating better and exercising.
I am a Type 1 diabetic. I have been diabetic for 13 years. I was gestational diabetic when I was pregnant with my son. I was on insulin when I was pregnant to help control the high blood sugars. I had my son in January 2000. I then nine months later became a full blown diabetic with type 1 diabetes I was at the age of 20. I was on insulin giving my self shots to control my sugars. I was then starting to have to many low blood sugars which is called Hypoglycemia. So then my physician decided to put me on a insulin pump. I now see and Endocrinologist for my diabetes.

Type 1 diabetics are ones that have to be on insulin on a every day basis of their lives. They have to watch what they eat, not eat things that are high in sugar. Type 2 diabetics manage their diabetes with medication such at. There is meds such as metformin, januvia, Glipizide, Glyburide. Are all oral medications that you can take for type 2 diabetes. Other ways for controlling type 2 and that is to watch their diets, exercising.

The signs and symptoms of Type 1 diabetes is for high blood sugar are Extreme thirst, Extreme hunger, Fatigue, and weight loss. Type 2 diabetes are increase thirst, frequent urination, increased hunger, weight loss, fatigue, blurred vision, slow healing sores or frequent infections.

All diabetics use meters to check their blood sugars to manage their numbers. For me with my insulin pump I have a meter that is linked to my insulin pump so when I check my blood sugar it automatically lets my pump know what my sugar is and lets me know exactly how much insulin to inject.

There is so many different medications out their for diabetes. There is insulin in many different kinds short acting which is usually used for meal time use and long acting which usually is used for 24 hour acting so it covers for 24 hours.
Pre diabetes is when you may have blood work done and your fasting blood sugar may be border line to the normal. Then the Doctors usually suggest that you watch what you eat and exercise. They will recheck your fasting blood sugar and may be it has gone up. Usually they will start you out on oral meds to help control it.
There are many test that a diabetic has to go through at least once a year. Most diabetics have to have their eyes checked for any diabetes
