Diversity and Cultures within Special Education Classrooms I have pleasure of assisting students that have the learning disabilities makes enduring a long day more satisfying. The majority of these students have that desire to learn, to expand their horizon and to better themselves just as much as the students who do not have learning disabilities. Some of these students are only deviant because of they do not understand the concepts that are being taught to them. In my occupation, I provide assistance to any reasonable accommodation to special education students. The social group I observed was a sixth grade science classroom at the end of the school day. In fact, the cultural values of the students define certain social groups within the classroom, but the majority of the student’s social values were learning level, popularity, and if they were able to communicate to each other in every language they spoke. These sixth graders acknowledge that popularity and languages that the each individual spoke. As I continue to observe, the students focused more on school than popularity. On the other hand, social classes are created by languages an individual would speak and the classes that the students have in common. In addition, numerous students stand to their traditional cultural beliefs. These students tend to have discussions with their own ethnicity the majority of the class period, but they are willing to discuss with other ethnicity when requested to or they need assistance. On the other hand, some of the special education students change their values as well. Some special education students value are to maintaining a decent grade point average, so these students raise their hand to attempt to understand the concepts they are being taught. On the other hand, other special education students value not being recognized as a trouble makers during the class period, so they attempt to stay in the class by not attempt to aggravating themselves by attempting the assignments given to them. Thus, the majority students’ social class does not have a barrier, but the students’ cultural values distinct with every individual while others students attempt to not be sent to the office to receive a consequence for their
