The observation occurred on March 12, 2024, at the child's home from 4:30 to 9:00 PM. There was only one child present during the observation. An eighteen-month-old boy named Kit. The child's mother and father were also present. Throughout the observation, Kit played with various toys and imitated his mother's actions when playing with new toys. At one point, Kit exhibited signs of boredom and attempted to gain attention by throwing a minor fit. This fit was handled by the mother handing him food. Although this may have stopped the fit, if Kit is to connect food consumption with awards and attention, it may become a problem in the future, seen as stress eating or emotional eating. While exploring his environment, Kit attempted to engage with adults and expressed his emotions through laughter and crying. Along with typical developmental behavior, he presented a few unique abilities for his age. He was able to connect different symbols and photos to sounds, piece together puzzles with little help, count to three when prompted, and dress with little to no assistance. He was also capable of performing tasks far above his 18 months of age, such as picking up food and small toys with only his pointer and thumb, stacking his toys, identifying different symbols and making meaning out of them, and drawing basic shapes such as a circle. Despite these abilities, Kit has not yet started walking. I believe this is because he relies on crawling and furniture to navigate his surroundings due to his limited living space. Kit sought comfort and attention from his mother when needed, indicating a secure attachment style. In addition to having a secure attachment style, he appears to be entering the psychosocial stage
