Elders are the backbone of our society. The elderly are the educators, storytellers, and guardians of our youth. The majority of elderly people have great advice to offer and are often eager to share their stories. However, in a changing society, many people have come to disregard Elders as unimportant or irrelevant. My family is also guilty of this disrespect towards the people who have built our nation. My grandmother, for example, who loves to tell stories and appreciates being asked for advice, is often brushed off and ignored. For this reason, I decided to highlight her life and opinions through conducting an interview. I also hoped to gain perspective on what it was like growing up in a completely different time, in a completely different environment. Bonnie Jud (age 74) is a wife, mother, grandmother, and self-proclaimed kid at heart. Bonnie was born to Tony and Bridget Brazo on the 29th of April 1941, in Winderich California. She has 3 children and 9 grandchildren who she loves showering with gifts and good food. With growing advancements in war technology and declining morals, she most fears a nuclear war that will threaten the lives of her children and grandchildren. She keeps herself young by staying up to date with technology, which she believes has made the biggest impact on society, and exercising routinely. In her opinion, some of the things that have changed for the better are easier communication, less prejudice, more equality, better work environment, a better school system, and better health technology.
