Hello Ron, you make some good points in your compare and contrast of your source and Sarah's source. I also found when looking at my source that was about a freed slave, that he struggled with truly becoming free from the white man. White men at the time made it very difficult for slaves that were freed by the Emancipation Proclamation. Many of the former slaves had no choice but to go back and work for the white men they were just freed from. Former slaves were also attacked by white men, and the law did nothing about it. Like you stated above, it's tragic that all these different groups whether it was African American slaves, women, children, or Native Americans fought against white men for their independence they weren't ever successful
